Manoj Das was a prolific bilingual writer known for his dramatic expression as well as satire. A Padma Bhushan awardee, his writings drew social and psychological sketches of common people, the frailties of political leaders, and the quirks of human nature.
Manoj Das was born on 27 February 1934 in Bhograi, Balasore district of Orissa. Das wrote both in English and Odia and taught English literature and philosophy at the Sri Aurobindo International Centre for Education. He was bestowed the country's third-highest civilian award Padma Bhushan in 2020 for his contribution in the field of English literature and philosophy. He had been awarded the Padma Shri in 2001.
